Monthly grief circle: before you join

Before you join our Monthly Grief Circle, know this:

  • You do not have to speak.
  • You do not have to share details.
  • You do not have to hold it together.

You are allowed to come exactly as you are: broken, angry, quiet, overwhelmed, or unsure.

This circle is not about “moving on.”
It is not about fixing you.
It is not about comparing grief.

It is about sitting in a room (or space) where everyone understands that homicide loss changes everything. At Families for Justice & Healing: Voices of Remembrance, we provide this safe haven.

** Grief Circles will begin once there is sufficient interest and participation. Once scheduled, the Monthly Grief Circle calendar will be published here, along with the corresponding Zoom link and meeting details.

What to expect from our monthly grief circle

Our Monthly Grief Circle is a calm, confidential space created specifically for families who have experienced homicide loss. There is no pressure, no timeline, and no expectation to “be strong.” We are Families for Justice & Healing: Voices of Remembrance, dedicated to providing compassionate support.

🤍 Introductions (optional sharing)

Participants can introduce themselves if they wish. Some share their loved one’s name. Some simply listen. Both are completely okay, fostering an environment of true understanding and acceptance.

💬 Open sharing time

This is the heart of the circle. Participants can: share what’s been heavy lately, talk about court updates, speak about anniversaries or triggers, honor a memory, express anger, confusion, or heartbreak. No one interrupts. No one fixes. We listen with compassion.

🌿 Reflection or coping tool

We may close with a grief education topic, a coping strategy, a short reflection, or a reminder that healing is not linear. Our goal is to provide resources and understanding for your journey.

🕯 Closing moment of honor

Sometimes we close by saying our loved ones’ names aloud or holding a quiet moment of remembrance. This moment underscores our commitment as Families for Justice & Healing: Voices of Remembrance to honoring those we've lost.

Join our circle

How to prepare (if you want to)

You do not need to prepare anything. But if it helps, you may choose to have a photo of your loved one, tissues, and water ready. Your comfort is our priority.
